Front Rack and Fender Installation

Front Rack and Fender Installation

Locate the front rack parts.

Note: The rack will be installed prior to the fender because the fender mounts to the rack.

Use the provided spacers and correct length screws to test fit the rack onto the fork. Make sure the rack isn’t rubbing or contacting the fork other than at the connection.Add washers if the spacers are not providing enough clearance between the fork and rack.

Next test fit the rails and find the right combination that provides a nearly level rail. It doesn’t have to be perfect, just close to level.

I found adding spacers at the fork made the rails line up better. I had to make these from tubing I bought from the hardware store. Another option is to stack up washers.

Once you are satisfied with the rail installation, remove each of the screws and apply Loc-tite and reinstall with final tightening.

Fender Installation

Place the front fender on the tire and install the long bolt through the fork at the top of the fender. This connection has a lock nut and does not require Loc-tite.

Install the wire supports to the rack as shown (test fit).

Bend the wire supports to line up with the tabs on the fender.

Place a folded rag between the tire and fender to maintain a proper clearance (about 3/8″ or so).

Install the plastic receiver pieces into the fender tabs.

Hold wire supports up near the tabs and mark the cut locations as shown.

Remove wire supports and cut using hacksaw. Reinstall along with clamping nut.

Position fender where it has uniform spacing around tire.

Remove, Loctite and reinstall each connection one at a time and apply final tightening.
